What the CP Measures

Care Profiler Scales are grouped into three Indices: Interpersonal Index, Performance Index, and Core Focus.  Additionally, a Response Validity scale indicates how likely one responded in an honest, consistent and accurate manner.

The Interpersonal Index is a category of scales that measure components of interpersonal functioning.

  • Empathy & Emotional Intelligence Scale: Displays sensitivity and awareness to emotional processes of self and others.
  • Hospitality & Kindness Scale: Displays warmth, positive affect, and comfort around others.
  • Dependability Scale:  Is highly disturbed by arriving late or deviating from commitments.
  • Emotional Self Control Scale: Composes and regulates emotional processes.

The Performance Index is a category of scales that measure components of vocational functioning.

  • Openness to Learning Scale: Is willing to learn new content through self-development and supervisor feedback.
  • Attention to Detail Scale: Identifies subtleties and strictly follows task-based routines.
  • Persistence Scale: Maintains focus and effectiveness of environmental and occupational stressors.
  • Achievement Orientation Scale: Pursues excellence, is goal-oriented and driven to succeed.
  • Occupational Stress Tolerance Scale: Maintains effectiveness in the face of interpersonal or environmental stress.

The Core Focus Index describes an individual’s orientation to providing care.  It uncovers what issues the individual is most naturally attuned to.  It explains what motivates and inspires the caregiver, and what relationship qualities the caregiver most values.  Core Focus allows a caregiver to leverage his/her uniqueness to develop truly deep and meaningful connections.

  • Socializing Scale:  Recognizes the value of being present and engaging in positive and light conversation.  Socializers will likely be attuned to issues of Loneliness and will want care recipients to feel light-hearted, cheerful, and happy.  Humor and positivity energize Socializers.
  • Motivating Scale: Recognizes the value of inspiring others to be active.  Motivators will likely be attuned to issues involving Boredom and will want care recipients to be engaged in activity, whether it is physical or mental.  Opportunities to involve others energize Motivators.
  • Comforting Scale: Recognizes the value of peace and security.  Comforters will likely be attuned to issues of Fear & Worry and will want care recipients to feel safe and at peace.  Opportunities to reassure and assuage fears energize Comforters.
  • Enriching Scale:  Recognizes the value of meaningful moments.  Enrichers will likely be attuned to issues involving Loss of Purpose and will want to help care recipients identify their own purpose and meaning.  Opportunities to have deep, thoughtful conversations energize Enrichers.

  • Assertiveness Scale: asserts oneself; seeks opportunities to lead, influence, persuade, and inspire others
  • Innovation Scale: combines unrelated things in new and creative ways
  • Initiative Scale: takes appropriate action without prompting; readily accepts new responsibilities
  • Managing Conflict Scale: works well with difficult people; supports others; build group moral; ensures respect for all people
  • Analytical Thinking Scale: identifies patterns and solutions that may not be obvious to others
  • Self-confidence Scale: remains confident in the face of adversity; is rarely discouraged by personal set- backs
  • Leadership Focus: Describes one’s orientation to leading, on the continuum of kinetic to explanatory.
